2013 Santa Cruz Tallboy LT Carbon

 
The 2013 Santa Cruz Tallboy LT Carbon combines the rolling efficiency of 29" wheels with 135mm of VPP travel, all in a super lightweight frame, weighing in at just 5.35 lbs with shock. Santa Cuz put a lot of emphasis on the suspension performance and ride characteristics of their VPP suspension design, with tuneability of shock rates for individual designs, and superb pedaling and bump absorption characteristics. For 2013, they've added a tapered head tube up front and a 142x12mm rear axle out back. A few other nice features are an ISCG05 mount and cable routing for a dropper seatpost.

Like other carbon bikes from Santa Cruz, the Tallboy LT Carbon features their VPP suspension with greaseports that make the ride smoother, quieter, and worry free. The trick grease ports make servicing the rear suspension very easy when the time finally comes. You will also notice a leather seatstay, chainstay, and downtube protector.

2013 Santa Cruz Nomad Carbon

 
The 2013 Santa Cruz Nomad Carbon walks the line between an all-mountain trail bike and gravity shredder. It's designed to go uphill just as well as it goes down. Santa Cruz revamped the Nomad Carbon for 2013 with the addition of a 142 x 12mm rear axle, which compliments the VPP suspension and keeps the rear wheel center over any type of terrain you will throw at it. The beautiful carbon frame has a noticeably different look than its aluminum predecessor. This carbon version is beefed up and smoothed out in all the right places, with substantially fatter chainstays and a 1.5" headtube, dismissing any doubts about whether a carbon all-mountain frame is strong enough.

2013 Cannondale F29 Carbon 3

The new 2013 Cannondale F29 Carbon 3 is Cannondale's least expensive carbon hardtail 29er. Project Bike: Longest ride of the year on my Tallboy Carbon

 
This past week I did my longest ride of the year, on my new Tallboy Carbon... just over 3 hours, just over 30 miles, and just over 2000 ft of climbing. I basically did 2 1/2 laps of my favorite local trail, and to get some more climbing in, I did a couple climbs of the road that the trail crosses. Needless to say, my legs are toast! The bike is awesome though... was a little worried about doing so much climbing on this bike for fear I would have rather been on one of my hardtails, but this Santa Cruz seems to climb just as efficiently as my Cannondale Flash 2 29er does. And it's sooooo much more comfortable over the rough parts of the trail. The Tallboy Carbon is hands down the best bike I've owned to date, without question! I've always been a hardtail guy, but I have a feeling my Cannondale and Yeti Big Top are going to see less and less trail time. The Tallboy Carbon is that good.
